Veteran South African actor Meshack Mavuso is proving once again why he’s in a league of his own — and this time, he didn’t just read lines… he went full immersive mode, sharp sharp!
Speaking at the launch of e.tv’s upcoming telenovelas eGagasini and The 4 Of Us at Kaya 959 on Monday, 29 June 2026, with journalist Mbali Tebele, the legendary star revealed that he literally packed his bags and headed to Durban to get into character for his role as Senzo Dube.
And no, he didn’t just chill at the beach and call it research — he went straight into the heartbeat of Durban’s music culture. Eish, commitment levels: 100%.

To fully understand his character, Meshack explained that he immersed himself in the city’s vibrant music scene, even linking up with none other than DJ Tira.
Why? Because his character Senzo Dube is strongly inspired by the Durban music mogul energy that DJ Tira represents — that larger-than-life, hit-making, kasi-glam lifestyle.
Basically… research level: legendary.

The story follows three best friends from Umlazi — Lwandle, Njabulo, and Sihle — whose lives change overnight after their music video goes viral. Their trio, Truth or Dare, suddenly finds itself thrown into the spotlight… but fame comes with serious baggage.
