If you’ve ever screamed “Mhlaba Wonke!” in traffic or spent hours debating lyric meanings at a weekend braai, this one’s for you.
Ukhozi FM, in partnership with CAPASSO, is hosting its annual Music Indaba on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, at the SABC M1 Music Studios in Auckland Park, Joburg.
October is Music Month, and this event is all about making sure local creatives don't just drop hits, but actually get paid properly for their craft.
Global Eyes (and Ears) on Local Lyrics
The main event? LyricFind’s first-ever in-person workshop in Africa! LyricFind’s Robert Singerman will be breaking down how songwriters can unlock extra revenue through lyric licensing, AI transcription tools, and English translations.
Because let’s be honest: it’s high time international listeners understand that isiZulu hits aren't just vibe-heavy—they’re poetry! The session will also show artists how to level up their content with Rotor Videos for Spotify Canvases, Apple Music motion art, and social media clips.
As Ukhozi FM’s Programming Manager, Langalethu Cele, noted, the station isn't just here to drop bangers on air, but to actively build platforms that empower the human beings making the music.
CAPASSO’s Lerato Matsoso echoed the vibe, emphasizing that protecting rights and maximising value is how we build a sustainable industry.
Big Zulu on the Mic & How to Join
Industry legend Big Zulu will share his artist's perspective on preserving cultural identity while building a lasting career, alongside key industry figures like Nick Matzukis from the Academy of Sound Engineering.
The best part? Admission is absolutely FREE, and yes, light refreshments will be served (because no South African works well on an empty stomach!).
