Johannesburg is about to swap traffic jams for jaw-dropping art as FNB Art Joburg returns for its 19th edition from 4 to 6 September 2026 at the Sandton Convention Centre.
And because Jozi loves doing things in style, this year's fair also forms part of the city's 140th birthday celebrations.
Think of it as Africa's biggest creative family reunion, where artists, galleries, collectors and culture lovers all pull up to one place. Sharp, ne?
This year, the fair is adding even more flavour with the launch of ARC, a brand-new platform dedicated to bold, boundary-pushing contemporary African art that gets people talking long after they've left the exhibition floor.
Visitors can also explore fan-favourite sections, including gallery HUB, gallery LAB, ORG, AUX, INK, GIF and MAX, each offering a different way to experience the continent's rich and diverse creative scene.
Fair director Mandla Sibeko says Johannesburg remains the perfect home for FNB Art Joburg because of its fearless, ever-evolving creative energy, adding that this year's edition will once again showcase the city's role as a hub for cultural breakthroughs.
The celebrations won't stop at the convention centre either. Open City returns from 20 August to 14 September, transforming Johannesburg into one giant cultural playground with art, music, fashion, food and performances taking over venues across the city.
